Moth Fun



Elephant Hawk moth. There were 6 of these in the trap last night!
Below, a Light Emerald.


I use a Skinner moth trap with a mercury vapour bulb. The moths fly over to see the light, then snuggle down in the egg boxes till morning. Unpacking the boxes is fun!



Spectacles moth peeps over a leaf. Below, a wonderful moth, the Peach Blossom. That's a new species for me.



Buff Arches above, Swallowtail below.



Brimstone above, female Oak Eggar below.



Peppered moth and female Drinker.



Yellow-tail.

I get so much joy from using my moth trap. Who knew my garden was so busy at night?
