Emperor dragonfly

Sparrowhawk in our garden, eating a dunnock.

Baby raft spider!

I watched this vole directly above gather nesting materials last night and take them to her burrow via an underwater entrance.

The Wrong Place

 Marbled White butterfly

I think I've been sitting in the wrong spot at Edgeley Road because I haven't seen many water voles this year there. But when I moved a bit further down the stream, two popped up straight away and wandered round my feet before settling on the opposite bank where I could photograph them. There was also a water shrew.

Above, adult vole at Edgeley Road. Below, a juvenile vole also at Edgeley Road. It has a white spot on its forehead.

Below, lizards at Prees Heath. At least two of them are gravid.

Purple Hairstreak and Silver Studded Blue butterflies

Red deer on a farm near Shrewsbury. Below, meadow pipit on the Long Mynd.

 Brown rat.

This vole was at Edward German Drive. Although it has lost an eye, it may survive.
