Water voles are well-rounded and plump - they eat 70% of their body weight every day, from a range of at least 227 different species of plants. This one is eating catkins covered in protein-rich pollen.

The voles are shy and late this year. I know they're around in all the usual spots but they're not showing themselves just yet. Next week I'll be in hospital for a bit, so shan't be able to get out to check on them. However, as soon as I'm up and running I'll be back with fresh updates.
Meanwhile, here's the wildlife I've seen this week.
