Weasel

Went just now to check on the Edgeley Road voles and spotted this little chap. It's the first time I've ever seen a weasel in the wild. Weasels would take water voles, but they're part of the natural UK predator-prey balance (unlike non-native mink which can wipe out a w-v colony). So I felt thrilled and privileged to see him.

Fantastic photos kate - I've never seen a weasel, let alone get a picture of one!!

I was incredibly lucky. Makes up for failing to get anything on the trail cam except a blackbird (despite the fact a water vole came and pooed right nest to the cam).

Really great photos. Very hard to photograph indeed. Lovely to see the blog coming out of hibernation too.

I agree. Fantastic photos. Great to see the blog coming out of hibernation. It's one of the signs of spring for me.
