Great photos Kate, the more I see Water Voles the more I appreciate them.
I had a walk along my local brook this evening but thick vegetation meant I was unable to get near the banks. Me and my daughter walked a good stretch of the brook in the opposite direction to where they moved the water vole colony back when they were going to build the new Everton stadium.
I'm going to have to look for somewhere else to spot them now. I have a couple of places in mind, so wish me luck.
This blog charts the fortunes of water voles in and around the Whitchurch area, North Shropshire. Water voles are one of the UK's most threatened mammals, extinct in many counties, and so it's vital they receive as much monitoring and protection as there is going. Here in Whitchurch we're lucky enough to have them right in the middle of town - how cool is that?
