Brilliant film. Where was it taken? you must have been really close. I've never seen a UK seal (I know that is awful... but true). Next year I must make it one of my "must do" things. Thanks for this. Jane
Yes, I was amazed they let you go within a few feet. I know you shouldn't anthropomorphize, but they looked so happy and chilled out.
Jane, they're on the coast near Horsey, a goodish walk from the mill across fields and dunes, but worth it. If you PM me on WAB, I'll give you details. Probably best not to wear capri pants and mules to ford the nettles, though, ahem.
Unfortunately I'm unlikely to get over that way this year. I believe we do have seals in Dorset... so I will try to track them down. Capri pants and mules... what are they :)
This blog charts the fortunes of water voles in and around the Whitchurch area, North Shropshire. Water voles are one of the UK's most threatened mammals, extinct in many counties, and so it's vital they receive as much monitoring and protection as there is going. Here in Whitchurch we're lucky enough to have them right in the middle of town - how cool is that?

Smashing seals, and so close.
