This water vole with an infected eye has been around for about ten days now at White Lion Meadow car park. It's a wound probably received from a rat or another vole. I've seen several voles over the years with just one eye, and they seem to cope; the female last year brought up at least one litter.
Meanwhile I'm starting to see latrines and burrows that are definitely water vole in the field off Edgeley Road. I don't know why this colony's so late in getting started.
