Babies!

 Spot vole!

I was lucky enough to see what I think was the very first foray out of the burrow for this family of baby water voles. They were tiny, about 21 days old, I'd guess, and quite rounded and fuzzy. Fur-wise, they're much darker than adult water voles, and overall size is about that of a large strawberry. Normal litters are about 5 pups, and there could have been that number but I only saw 3 together at once. However, one of the babies is a "spot" vole - it has a little white mark on its forehead, which is something I've seen at three other sites. Anyway, a very special moment.
